How Edge grades sports betting odds

Edge is a sports betting odds grader built to compare prices, not predict a winner from a team name alone. It converts available odds into implied probabilities, uses prices across the market to estimate a fair value, and compares that estimate with the odds offered by an individual sportsbook.

When a book offers a more favorable price than the market-based fair value, Edge shows the estimated percentage edge and assigns a letter grade. The app also filters incomplete or implausible data before presenting an opportunity. Odds move, so every grade is a time-sensitive comparison rather than a guarantee.

Understanding the A–F grade scale

A and B grades Stronger estimated value relative to the current market.
C and D grades Smaller estimated edges that may still merit comparison.
F grade No qualifying positive edge at the reviewed price.
Edge percentage The gap between the offered price and estimated fair value.

What does +EV mean in sports betting?

“+EV” means positive expected value. A wager is considered +EV when its potential payout is favorable relative to its estimated probability of winning. For example, two sportsbooks may post different prices for the same outcome; the better price can offer more expected value even though the underlying event is identical.

Expected value describes a long-run mathematical estimate, not the result of one bet. A +EV wager can lose, and a poor-value wager can win. Edge helps users identify and compare possible value; it does not promise profit or remove variance.

Sports, sportsbooks, and bet types covered

Edge monitors available odds from major U.S. sportsbooks, including DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, and Caesars. Coverage can vary by sport, market, location, season, and sportsbook availability.

  • Sports: NFL, NCAAF, NBA, WNBA, NCAAB, MLB, NHL, major soccer competitions, and tennis singles.
  • Game markets: moneylines, point spreads, and game totals when available.
  • Player markets: supported player props, including sport-specific scoring and statistical markets.

Value betting tools beyond the grade

Compare the offered odds with fair value

Each opportunity pairs the sportsbook price with Edge’s estimated fair-value price and edge percentage, giving users context for the letter grade instead of a pick without supporting numbers.

Track bets and review results

Save supported bets in Edge to keep upcoming and settled wagers organized. Performance views help users review tracked results over time rather than judging a method by a single win or loss.

Use AI to understand the numbers

AI-powered explanations translate the price comparison into plain language. They are informational summaries of the available data, not personalized financial advice.

Use betting information responsibly

Sportsbook odds and market estimates can be wrong or change quickly. Edge does not guarantee winners or returns. Verify the current line before placing a wager, set limits, and bet only where legal and only with money you can afford to lose. If gambling stops being fun, stop and seek help from a responsible gambling resource in your jurisdiction.
